Common Fashion Mistakes

Fashion is the perception of a person's personality through clothing, footwear, lifestyle, accessories, makeup, hairstyle, behavior, gesture, and body posture. It is a form of art that depicts distinctive self-expression, personality and taste. Fashion is to some extent determined by the culture of a country. Fundamentally, an outfit or lifestyle describes a personal choice with the ability to shape our lives in a positive manner and connect with others. In a nutshell, fashion helps us to read people’s behavior, attitudes, personality, mood, confidence, and interaction with others.

As much as fashion is about the clothes you wear or the accessories you possess, it is also about the way you represent yourself to the world around you. This is about the ways you showcase your personality by using your tastes, preferences, physical characteristics, and personal style.

Fashion trends are transitory styles that make our lives colorful, add variety, and allow us to try something new. The influence of film, climate, political, economic, social, technical or creative exploration may create changes in fashion style.

There is a difference between male and female attire such as clothing length, sleeve size, cutting style of the shirt, hip and waist size of pants, chest size of T-shirt, button and button hole placement etc. Unisex clothing means that regardless of gender, both men and women can wear the same clothes.

Some people have natural fashion sense, but many struggles to avoid looking outdated or boring. Many men and women make simple and basic fashion mistakes. As styling is an art, self-expression, and experimental freedom so we need to identify common style mistakes to look effortlessly fashionable and feel the most confident.

1. Remove product tag and vents sewn: Ensure that all clothing tags have been removed. Product tags are not intended to remain attached to the garment. It is not part of the design of a cloth. Many people are unaware that vents sewn into clothes should also be removed before wearing. Snipping the 'X' thread makes you look unpolished. Vents sewn are meant to be used for shipping only. As soon as you receive the product, you need to pull the "X" thread from your coat.

2. Long sleeves look sloppy: Sleeves should end just past the wrist bone. In the case of an item that fits well in your body except sleeves, you must make the necessary adjustments that don't cost much but give you the feeling that the item is just made for you; a custom tailor-made item.

3. Perfect fit is essential: Clothes should be shaped to fit the body. If tailoring is required, then you should do it. When clothes are unsuited or incorrectly sized, regardless of whether they are oversized or small, the result will always be the same: they will ruin the elegance of the outfit, and make you look unattractive. Sometimes an oversized dress can be cool, but it should fit your shoulders and be well tailored at all times.

4. Comfortability is a must: Comfort is the main motto of fashion. Whatever you wear, it should be comfortable for you. For example, leggings are extremely comfortable and easy to wear, but they are not as formal as jeans or pants.

5. Avoid the wrong colors: Each person has a unique skin color and tone, so choosing the proper clothing is essential. Because, wearing wrong colors can ruin your personality. There is an easier way to get your look perfect by checking different colors of clothing to determine which one perfectly illuminates your skin tone especially your face. If you aren't familiar with the right color combinations, then choose a neutral classic color that is versatile, timeless, and can match any outfit. Additionally, you should avoid wearing clothing that resembles your skin color such as beige or light brown. This is because it appears like you are not wearing clothes at the top or bottom. Combining bright colors with neutral colors or certain harmonious shades will help you achieve a very sophisticated and original look.

6. Un-tucked shirts look unprofessional: Try to half tuck to avoid looking unprofessional and less polished. The half truck is the most popular style trick in the world. You just need to tuck the front half of your top into your pant so that it drapes over the pant line gently.

7. Clean shoes are important: No matter what, you must wear clean shoes. One of the most common mistakes in fashion is wearing dirty shoes, which can make you look unattractive and give the wrong image of how you are to others. Before putting on shoes, make sure they are in proper condition. Additionally, try to select the right shoe for each occasion. Before buying any shoe, you should consider that the shoe must be comfortable.

8. Too many rips can make you look messy: Though jeans with rips and holes are cool, if there are too many then you can look sloppy and unkempt. Please keep rips to a minimum. On the contrary, low rise jeans make your waist look wider than usual and your legs look shorter. The wearing of rigid high-rise jeans that don't allow you to sit for a long period of time is not advisable. Dress appropriately according to the occasion.

9. Accessories is the biggest key to look you stylish: Accessories is an ideal component to enhance the beauty of your look and increase the sophistication of your own fashion style. If you just wear a cloth, its just cloth only but if you put some accessories it compliments you instantly updated, revived and gives a chic touch to your look. But if you wear too many, you can look tacky. You need to find the right balance.

10. Don’t step out in wrinkled clothes: This is one of the biggest mistakes we often make. If time is limited, wear wrinkle-resistant fabrics. In addition to steam-dedicated wrinkle-resistant garments, you can also choose fabrics that don't wrinkle easily.

11. Adding some stylish touches needed: Remember, just wearing an outfit and adding accessories is not everything. Try to add some personal innovation to make it an expression of your personality. For instance, cuffing your sleeves instantly enhances the balance of your outfit or look.

12. Incorporate some vintage or retro looks: Retro touches can add a stylish twist to fashion. Adding a bit of old to the new makes you more fashionable.

13. Not mix several trends in a single look: If you want to follow all the trends, it is suggested not to try them all at the same time. The combination of several fashion trends will make you look unattractive and non-rejuvenating.

14. Total look in same bright color: Wearing an outfit is all about having a sense of style from top to bottom. If you wear the same color outfit, it will create negative attention. Different colors need to be combined.

15. Avoid messy hairstyles: Nourishing and taking proper care of hair, maintaining a proper trim can look you refreshed and revitalized

Now we will talk about the standard dress code for a formal business environment. Having a business formal dress code enhances your workplace image and your personal style. Not wearing bold or neon color or revealing clothing or flip-flops or hats or too much perfume, cologne, body spray or aftershave- these are some style mistakes we have to avoid:

THE LOOK: Clothing should be clean, neat, pressed and never wrinkled to project a professional image.

ATTIRE: Men should wear a button-up collared shirt paired with a tie. The darker the suit, the more formal it is. To wear a collared shirt with a formal suit, avoid bright, bold, check or pattern shirts. Rather, white, gray, or light blue are safe colors. Pick a tie that matches the shirt and suit- it may be a bold color or pattern.

ACCESSORIES: Depending on the tone of the suit, you can choose a black or brown belt. Colored or white belts are not acceptable. Ensure that your belt and watch have roughly the same shade. One more thing, never wear white socks with a suit. Shoes should match your suit or pants, not shoes. If you are in doubt, just choose black socks. A pocket square or cufflink should match the tie. If desired, women may wear simple and tasteful jewellery; chunky, big and bright accessories are not recommended.

FOOTWEAR: Depending on the atmosphere, boots, flats, open-toed or closed-toed shoes in a leather material are appropriate but they should be clean and polished properly.

MAKEUP and PERFUME: Limited and simple body piercing is acceptable. Makeup should represent a natural look. Remember, too much perfume or cologne should be avoided.

DON’T WEAR BACK-PACK WITH FORMALS: Having a backpack will seriously ruin the appearance of a smart and classy professional avatar. Get a shoulder sling bag or a leather laptop brief instead.

In addition to the above, not wearing a belt, watch, socks, or wearing short pants, or an unfitted dress will hamper your impression. We must avoid these mistakes and dress in business attire which will increase your credibility, make you more trustworthy and reliable. Your heightened sense of credibility will give you more opportunities to attract more business.

Final thoughts

If you want to maintain your own style and express your personality through your outfit, that is absolutely fine. However, it is also important to follow the latest trends influenced by a multitude of elements, including social media and technology, which are always advancing. We hope that by knowing each of these fashion mistakes, you can avoid them, so you can look stylish everywhere.
